Sun Safety
Pinnacle preschool places high importance on sun safety for the children, staff and families.
Young children's skin is very vulnerable to early UV damage and without appropriate sun protection during this time increases the risk of skin cancer later in life.
At Pinnacle Preschool, we are guided by the Cancer Council of Australia's recommendations in implementing our sun safe policies and practices. You can find further information on how to keep your child safe from the sun by following this reading this handy tips from the Cancer Council - Sun Safety. You can also read the Pinnacle Preschool Sun Protection Policy here.
When attending preschool, please:
-
Provide your child with a broad brimmed hat. You will be provided with a Pinnacle Preschool hat on enrolment and are welcome to leave the hat at preschool so it is always available as needed.
-
Put sunscreen on your child 20 mins prior to attending preschool
-
Notify the preschool if your child has any allergies or sensitivities to sun-cream and provide one you know to be safe to use.
-
Encourage your child to wear wrap around sunglasses to protect their eyes, protect their shoulders by not wearing strappy clothing and seeking shade to play when possible.
